Im in austin tx and i get a call on Thursday from home (california). My daughters truck(my old truck) "the bumper was pulled off and put on the lawn".... Okay so send me pictures...... That looks like someone hit it with a car!

I get home thursday night and The Nieghboor had video of the accident and road me when.

Well i have video too, but at the driveway and the car was in the street. So i go through my video at same time and this black four door car slows down all crazy in front of my driveway and stops. Then slowly rolls away. They end up at the end of the street in view again and he checks his car. Gets back in and leaves! Omg!

I don't have full coverage on that truck. It's old. And not worth it. Until today! (place holder for cuss word)!!

Anyways here are some pics. Ill upload video and fixes later. I spent all day friday welding and hamering out a bumper so the truck could be driven.

Man, peeled that bumper back like a sardine can. I expected to see bright metal where the bumper mount sheared off the front of the frame. Was there already a break there?

Hope you nail the bastahds.

On another note, I'm impressed with your CCTV system (guessing that's what it is). You got footage at least.

Yeah video on my cctv. But analog video. Car from the side. No good license. Not even a letter....here is a screenshot of a screenshot. :) used phone to copy from cctv.

Unlike tv shows, csi, etc... You can't just zoom in and get a better image. You only get what you got.

Well, we have a color but a make and model might be able to be determined. Plus they have a scrape and damage on the side.

Yah so the cops came by to take a report. And the one car on the block that matched the image drove by. So the cop went and asked them. But there car was like brand new, no scratches.

But the longer i look at there car going by i dont think it was them. The car that hit us also had tinted back windows. And the car down the street has no tinted windows.

Every car i see im looking at the front for damage now. :)

So first i had to remove bumper and the mounts that had almost sheared off. I guess they are built this way?

Found a screwdriver in one side :)

Tacked them into place and checked for angle and location using the bumper. Then welded them in place.

A little black spray paint to protect welds and open metal.

And bam bumper back on. Minus the lower skirt. Need to fix that still.

But for 4 hours of bending and welding i think it will do for now. If we find the guy then ill get a new bumper amd pay myself back for the welding :)

I don't want to come off as uncaring..

BUT!!!! It's a truck, doesn't seem to be hurt that bad.. ( I could fix in a few hours for about $100 or so.)

But some Criminal hit and run my neighbor's son in law.. ( a volunteer firefighter) and KILLED HIM!

He'll NEVER BE FOUND.

I really do hope you find the perp and get satisfaction getting your truck fixed. But think about what my neighbor has to deal with. Old trucks are cheap...good men are hard to find.

hard to tell from the distorted image..
Dodge intrepid perhaps.. maybe a Chrysler 200 / 300 (~2000 model) *shrugs*

too bad if all cars look alike when they pass by.

But I'm sure you can find the car or at least narrow it down to a handfull of models.
And with that it should be possible for the police to find the car/owner.

The thing is, is it "worth their while" ?

As Doug said, there are more important hit and runs to solve,
as annoying as that sounds... but if a person got killed or injured it's for sure higher up their priority list (for very good reason!)

Anyways:
Good luck finding that "metabolic end product exit orifice"
I hope you'll get your damage covered.
