:wai: Is that the original engine for the quad. Is the gas tank divorced from the engine? If so that is a pulse fitting in the intake manifold for a fuel pump. On second though, what kind of fuel petcock is on the quad? That could be for a hose to the petcock with a check valve to provide vacuum for opening to provide fuel and closing to shut off fuel from the petcock.

I did mention this earlier. It got ignored.

heres the pit cock
and theres was never anything attached to the connection on the intake mani ,theres was a little bit of rubber that must of being what was there before i had quad
i never had any problems with this before

Okay. How can I say this any more clearly than I already have...

******PLUG IT!!!******

:wai: In the picture on the left side, see the hose barb. That where the hose from the intake manifold goes. If you plug the vaccum feed off, the petcock stays closed. Therefore no fuel to the carb. Those types of petcock are know for malfuctioning, either staying open/closed. Therefore most people get rid of them and replace with a strait manual shut off petcock. Then you can plug the intake. I missed the part about the engine starting and running. So evidently the petcock has already failed to the open side. Just do what everyone else stated. Plug the intake. Best to remember to manually shut the petcock off or you may end up with a carb and crankcase full off fuel.
