My latest hair brained idea.. His and Her Vintage Ruttman Mini bikes..

Made a 1.5hour drive down to a mini bike swap meet. Managed to come home with just what I was looking for!

I think I can make 2 nice bikes out of the 3 here.. Along with some NOS parts.. It shouldn't be horrible.

Stay tuned!

Closest thing we have is the Barrie auto swap meet here twice a year you can find everything from cars to kitchen sinks. These days everything is disposable and nobody resells anything. Even second hand stores are getting hard to find.

Well.....You do have to be careful though....some swap meets could get you in trouble. .....

Finishing up a jig to align the rear axle mounts.

Got a buddy coming over one of these nights after work to do some welding on the bikes.
Hes been welding for 20+ years.. ill tack everything on and let him make it pretty!

Updated pics soon.

Got impatient and went ahead with the welding. I'm not terrible, but far from professional. I have no doubt they will hold, I have a decent little mig with gas.

I've got the engine plates on 2 of them straight. One will need the replacement plate I have.. Haven't even started cutting that frame apart yet.

Scored another straight set of forks, should be in the mail this week.

Game plan is to focus on the better 2 bikes.. get them mocked up and sandblasted by the end of the month.

Heres one of the bikes mocking up the new wheels. You can see the jig I used to align the rear axle plates right behind it (plywood)

Those wheels aren't the $5 HF wheels are they? If so, are they only for mock up purpose?

Basically yes. These were purchased at my local farm and fleet store. I have a harbor freight set as well.. these seem to be better quality.

Bearings will be replaced, tires replaced.. Just using the rims really.

It is the rims that suck the most! Too thin, cheap and flimsy..... The hub will separate from the rim.... I have an example outside if you want me to go out n take a pic..... They ain't no bueno......
