Hello everyone!

I have a predator 420 built with 70# valve springs and all the billet parts that you would find in a standard “stage 2” kit. I have already fried a starter trying to turn the engine over and I am getting pretty annoyed with the starter stalling on my compression stroke. I do also think one of my problems could be my very mildly crimped on battery terminals. I’m here asking if anyone knows of any high torque, or altered gear ratio starters or has any ideas on what I should do. I was thinking of dropping my valve springs to 50#, or soldering my battery terminals. Any advice would be very appreciated, thank you!

Starters are normally capable of starting a performance engine, is the compression relief still active?
Try a higher cranking amps battery and lower AWG cable

I’m thinking it’s a problem with the compression release, is there a good way to check or am I back to tearing my engine down…?

Pull the rocker cover and the spark plug, so you can turn the engine over easily. After doing it for a few revolutions watch the exhaust valve. Right after it closes you should see it just barely lift again, very quick like. If not, then the compression release is not working. Some of the higher priced tool steel cams do not come with a compression release. Did you install one of those?
