Hey everyone, I’m here to fix a go kart that I bought for my son and ended up being too much for him. I’m just trying to get it up and running so that I can sell to someone who has the space to use it. It has been interesting learning about go karts and small engines over the last 4 to 5 weeks.

he's 12. I ended up getting him a used Segway ninebot go cart which was what he wanted as well. Wife wasn't thrilled with how big this go kart was and it just doesn't fit anywhere I need it to fit.

but then, gasp I apologize as this "go cart" is probably the thing of blasphemy on this site, I decided to get this as it was so much easier to store, easier for him to just get in and go and not as loud

The kart pictured in post #6 is really nice and should be perfect for a 12 year old boy. Especially so with a little help and involvement from Dad. The thing you show in post #7 is plastic junk. I'd try to return it and get my money back if it were mine. To each his own.

-And Ive always been under the impression that Segway make quality products. They had some issues in the past but I think those have been taken care of.

That's okay, it can be your go kart. One electric kart versus one larger gas kart. Who will win, father or son?

Hey, I’ve never seen nor heard of a Segway 9bot; thanks for taking the time to share.

Pffft, we do electric as well. They apparently race electric karts now, same chassis style as the gas karts. Times, they be a’changing…

You spelled it wrong, that is the only blasphemy. Carts are for grocery stores. 😛

:ROFLMAO:
now I know! Go Kart.
yeah, these Segway things are the same scooter or board I guess that attaches to the steering wheel like you see Paul Blart mall cop ride. Then there’s the larger part of what you see in that picture which is the attachment kart. There’s a few variations of them. The hoverboard(the rear wheels) you see in my photo goes about 17 mph and then there’s another one that goes about 12mph, one at 23 miles an hour and then there’s another one that goes 27 miles an hour. Which pretty damn fast for something like this as it’s electric so it’s just there.

Hey Kools, what’s the footprint of the Ninebot like? Length and width?

It’ll fit a rider of up to 6’2” they say, it’s about 55” long and 32” wide. It’s adjustable length wise, weighs about 100lbs total. It’s very well built, solid, corners really well. Decent amount of tech in them. 4 different speed modes, Bluetooth speakers in wheels, lights, reverse, app controlled as well. Then there’s the pro models which are even more advanced

Kools, keep them both. Sounds like the plastic Gizmo is pretty high tech. ( I'm not). Unless you and your son just hate gas engines, in time he will gravitate towards the gas powered kart. It really looks good from the picture you posted.
And NO, the sidewalk is not a good place for a kart. Maybe you don't have anywhere to run it. The noise ( what your wife doesn't like ) is better known as the sound of the engine. Most females don't like engine noise. Lots of men ( and growing boys ) love it. Look at any form of motor sports competition. Engine sound is a big factor in the draw.
