..... just got into this go kart nonsense with my 12 year old daughter. She's usually my co-pilot in my C4 vette. I took her with me to an autocross and let her ride along and it's all I've heard about since.

So I picked up a Coyote Widetrack LE rolling chassis (anybody know what the "LE" stands for?). It came with a brand new Predator engine and a few extra. My plan is to set it up for a really tight and technical backyard dirt track. GRC lites style if you will. With the governed engine and a 69t rear and a 12t clutch my math says a top speed of 17 which should be plenty for what I have in mind. (I'm open to furtner gear reduction.) Any thoughts? Also I'm trying to set it up so the whole family can use it so I had planned on putting an "xl" seat in it but I'm concerned about keeping her planted.

I apologize for the confusion. With my crew any activity that can be desribed as "nonsense" should be pursued with the utmost seriousness until maximum grin factor is obtained. We take our fun VERY seriously!:bannana:

LE usually stands for "Limited Edition"; that may or may not be the case here...

I think your math may be off (but, without rear wheel height, who knows); with 10" rear tyres, I get a max speed of 19mph...

9 inch tire 3600 rpm 69t on the axle 12t on the clutch. The speed calculator spits out 17. Honestly I don't know how fast that is in the tight confines of a backyard track. Maybe PLENTY fast for the tight course i want to build.

that will have good torque too. The older baja heat mini bikes were geared to 17 mph for off-road use and had excellent engagement with a centrifugal clutch, but then felt kind of boring on the straights. Perfect for younger kids i think.

Awesome. That's what I'm hoping. Won't be much in the way of a straight away in this track. I'm concerned about consistent full clutch engagment. The Hillard I plan on ordering seems to have a low lock up speed of 2200. It's advertised as specifically for "kid kart" extreme use.
