Hi, I am a student at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC, I also own a boat service company I run out of my house and truck. I have a full compliment of machine tools (lathe and Bridgeport mill), mig and tig welders and a bunch of other tools that I use for work and for my hobbies. I am currently building a LOCOST Super 7 for track use and SCCA auto cross that should be running by Christmas and of course I have recently come into a new to me kart.
I just bought a cart from a friend of mine the other day, it is some variety of dart chassis from what I can gather based on one of my very kart savy neighbors, it has a Honda G300 engine that I don't yet know too much about. I plan on doing some Engine mods like a header and jet adjustments and perhaps a better air filter and then this winter I may clean up the chassis and re-paint it. I just put some new rear tires on it today and I'm thinking about getting a new clutch for it so I can move it closer to the engine.

I still haven't figured out what exactly this little ball joint is for

Thanks for the warm reception guys, I think it will turn out to be a fun cart. I really want to squeeze out all the power I can from it so I can beat my neighbors clone cart lol

I'm not exactly sure what that ball joint is for either, except for thinking that if you flip the kart, it will allow that bar to flex instead of break. Welcome to the forum. We look forward to seeing you progress.

Well, I decided to move on from the engine that came on the cart because it was too far gone to merit the time and cash to repair so I got a HF clone motor and thus far I am very impressed with it. last weekend I went to my local motorcycle junk yard and got a 22mm Mikuni round-slide card off an old dirt bike for $20 and then I made a custom intake manifold from some scrap aluminum I had in the garage and I got it mounted on today and all I have to say about it is WOW what a huge difference, all that I need to do to it is drill the jets one or maybe two sizes bigger and make an air cleaner adapter for it and weld up a header :D
