Hi guys, looking to get mmy gokart running, care to help me?

Hi, got this as a gift when i was 15 3 years back, and i wanna get her running again, I miss the good days racing my cousins in theirs. "reminicing"

ok down to business.

1.st problem, wont start.(im sure there can be many number of things)
2. there is gas leaking when i flip the ON switch im guesing to the gas flow(sorry not too technical with gokarts, dont know terms).
3. and minor, i need new spark plugs im guessing and a few rubber hoses.

Can anyone maybe give me a hint to where to start?

Hi.

#1 did you store this with gas in it?, if so that could be why it's not starting. You would have to drain it all out and put fresh gas in.

#2 Gas leaks out? Leaks out of where exactly? I don't think the switch you are talking about controls the gas.

#3 Is it damaged or something? Did it run when you put it away? what happened to the hoses? Spark plug might be a good idea though.

if its leaking gas the float might be stuff try taking it apart and cleaning is real good

im almost sure it has spark, magnetos are reliable. not an old motor either.

take that :/ screwout and that drains the carb bowl.

It is leaking out of the thing under the switch. like if i switch it to on, it will leak. i pointed to it in the picture i attached, can u see it? and how would i clean out this bowl?

Rebuild your carb, its clogged which is causing your float to stick.

Blue.... the bolts on the bottom of the carb are not screws, they have no screw head.

yea do that and make sure you get new gas

First, that bolt you point to secures the float bowl. Either it is loose, or the little gasket/o-ring around the bolt is shot. Second, you will very likely need to clean/rebuild your carb. Today's fuel is crap which degrades in no time flat. After three years, your carb is guaranteed to be gummed up unless you ran it bone dry the last time you used it. A good policy is when you're going to park your kart for more than a week or two, leave the engine running and shut off that fuel lever. When the engine stalls, pull the starter a few more times 'till it refuses to fire. Your carb is now gum-proof.

Check hoses for cracks, and replace as necessary. To check for spark, remove the spark plug, put the wire back on it, hold the threaded prt of the plug with a gloved hand against a bare aluminum part of the engine block or head, and have a buddy pull the starter rope a few times.

Something else you can do is unscrew the spark plug, pour a teaspoon of fuel into the hole, put the plug back in, reconnect the wire, and try to start thr engine. If it fires like this, but will not run any other way, your carb's clogged.
