That and proper linkage, get the warranty, its cheap and with the failure rate those engines seem to have it is a very smart move.

The engine when new comes with what we call stationary linkage, it can be moved but stays at one speed without snapping back to normal. Go-Karts are equipped with a sort of "snap-back" linkage which always returns to idle for obvious safety concerns.

You must alter the linkage in order to use this engine.

so I picked up a 5.0 briggs flat head engine from a member on here but it didnt come with any mounting hardware so how do you guys suggest I mount it onto the frame?

I have this frame (pic 1) in it's non-extended form as well as the Azusa (pic 2).
The Azuza is the better of the two kits.

did you use the kill switch that came with the kit? I'm wondering how I can wire that up. I just bought a used 5hp briggs flat head.
