Hi,

Just bought a Yerf Dog 3205 yesterday that came with a new (never started) Predator 212 for $300. Plan on getting that predator running and get the cart moving in the next week or two. The frame was repainted and so far here is what I have to do to get it going;

1. Find Brake and trottle cables or even change pedals to something more sturdy while I'm at it.

2 Buy clutch and chain (Does anyone know what size chain the stock sprocket uses?)

3. Install seat (using a Kirkey Racing seat that came out of the stock car.)

Now heres where I'm hoping the forum can help...

-Rear axle might have a slight bend in it on the driver side, Is there any cheap replacements for that?

-Steering setup in this is a sloppy mess by design, is it worth doing a rack and pinion conversion?

-Should I get this kart running and sell it or is this a cart worth building?

Thank you,
JR

Welcome! Lots of people here to help ya. I don't own a Yerf Dog, but would suggest some info to help us get started with getting you some info/help. Post up some pics with the info will help also, who knows people here will see some issues you may not...

Hi,

Just bought a Yerf Dog 3205 yesterday that came with a new (never started) Predator 212 for $300. Plan on getting that predator running and get the cart moving in the next week or two. The frame was repainted and so far here is what I have to do to get it going;

1. Find Brake and trottle cables or even change pedals to something more sturdy while I'm at it.

2 Buy clutch and chain (Does anyone know what size chain the stock sprocket uses?) Start with what is the tooth count on the axle sprocket? Then you can figure what gear ratio you what... what clutch/clutch sprocket size/ and chain size you will need to make it all work. Predator has an 3/4" output shaft. Might even want a torque convert instead of a clutch.

3. Install seat (using a Kirkey Racing seat that came out of the stock car.) Sounds cool... Is it a full cage kart? Would suggest using seat belts with the seat if it does.

Now heres where I'm hoping the forum can help...

-Rear axle might have a slight bend in it on the driver side, Is there any cheap replacements for that? Many places sell new axles... I assume it is a live axle kart... Start with what your diameter, length of your current axle is? Is it keyed all the way across, step down ends, how wheels/hubs mount? Check the bearings where the axle mounts to the frame while you are at it.

-Steering setup in this is a sloppy mess by design, is it worth doing a rack and pinion conversion? I would start by taking the front apart and inspecting parts for extreme wear. May just be sloppy cause parts are worn out. There may be a rack kit for it (have my doubts) to buy? Are you a fabricator/have the tools to take it on? Sounds like a cool idea, if you want to invest the time and money.

-Should I get this kart running and sell it or is this a cart worth building?

Thank you,
JR

1. Mountain bike brake cables work well

2.Stock YD 3205 weighs 308lbs (without you) and comes stock with a torque converter, 6:1 gear ratio (60T axle, 10T Drive sprocket) and 20" Tires. I agree you might want to consider staying with a Torque converter instead of a centrifugal clutch. Its heavy, has large diameter tires, and the manufacturer probably didn't spend the extra money on a TC for nothing.

This manual has a list of parts you might find helpful.
