Hey everyone,
Im joining to try to learn as much as I can. My friends and I were sitting around last night bored and we starting pooling together ideas about buying a go kart and restoring it.
We then progressed our idea into going all out and building a 1000cc powered kart, possibly adding a turbo in to the mix. The motor will be sourced from either a GSXR 1000, an R1, ZX10R, or a CBR 1000.
My friends and I are all pretty crafty when it comes to fabbing and "macgyvering" stuff, to make it work if you will. This is definitely gonna be a challenge I think, but we're down for it for sure. This will be the first kart any of us have built. We come from a fast toys background, I myself have owned 2006 gsx-r 600 for a few years and I also own a Mitsubishi Evo which made 400whp, it is now almost done being built and will make over 600hp and 600tq to the wheels. We're all motorsports nuts and I personally enjoy very fine detail involved in engines, fuel, turbo's, etc etc.
We're currently in the process of finding a decent chassis off of our local craigs list, we may be picking one up tonight even!
A few things which I am still trying to help us figure out is...
Fueling
Drivetrain/transmission
Making the turbo work...which shouldnt be very difficult.
If anyone has any tips or anything to share Id definitely appreciate the wisdom. Thanks!
