Hey all. Newly retired guy with a 4 year old grandson, lots of time and an old Dixon ZTR mower in the pole shed. Sounds like a go kart build to me! Hope to get some good advice. I have a pretty good metal fab shop with welders, lathe, mill, forge etc. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! Just looking for something simple and fun. Obviously he’s too young for the next couple years. Want it to be capable of running on the lawn. Probably try to use existing wheels.

KartFab (member on here) created this two seater plan set for free a few years ago. https://kartfab.com/go-kart-plans

It uses a Predator 212 (roughly 6hp), fixed axle (one wheel drive), centrifugal clutch, etc. Made from 1"x1" square tubing. Should be more than plenty for your grandson.

there probably will be some kind of bottom to side shaft box on there somewhere the motor conects too and you might be able to use that as a drive system
