The Dingo.jpg
Heay DIY people of the karting world, I'm Eric.
New to the board, I've been busy researching everything I can find on the kart above. I think its the Manco model 810-00 Dingo. I saved it from extinction and hope to get it back to running condition soon. It's missing the drive set-up, the tires are shot, the brakes were locked up, and the wirings a mess. So far I've tracked down the users manual (thanks to this site!!) and got the brakes freed up. The guy I got it from said the engine ran some 2-3 years ago, hope it still does!! Prolly start messing with that next. From what I can tell does this look like a viable candidate for the T/Q drive set up?:

I know its not a true "Comet" unit, but it seems like the parts I need, plus a belt of course. I plan to contact them about the belt. I measured 7 and 7/8" center to center, sound about right?
Anyways, thanks for any help and hope to put my face in the wind sometime this summer on this thing!! :auto:

Welcome Eric...

Yes, that TC (T/Q as you called it) should work but, how did you determine the belt length? Is the driven shaft still there? Do you have more pics?

As for the model, I'm sure it's a Manco but, I'm not 100% sure it's a Dingo; I could be wrong but, I don't recall ever seeing a 2 seater Dingo...

You did research first. Then filled in your profile..... You're on a roll, guy! Now all we need is some pics. Start a build thread in the projects section and ask all your questions there.
I take it you have the 8hp briggs? If your shaft is 1" then yes that tc set up is right up your alley. Go start a thread, and post pics of what you do have...... We will recommend what you need.....
Ok, by the way,...... Dingo's are awesome! Once it's up and running, you're gonna have a BLAST!!!!!

muahaha yea its a dingo alright. might even be a model 812? who knows. There will be a sticker on the floor pan directly below the steering wheel that says what model it is for sure. (if its still there)

40 series is the correct one. i have seen two of the 2 seater dingos, they both had the yellow spring on the driven unit though. I have also seen dingos with the red spring. Just based on the dingos i have seen, you may need the yellow spring for the drive unit to have it function in stock form.

Yea, 10hp Tec. The jack shaft is there, 5/8" diameter w/ keyway. Mine doesn't have the serial/model tag, which from what I've read is possible on older karts. I'll defiantly start a build log as I plan to make it look as good as it goes. I'm guessing the yellow spring is a stiffer unit for the extra weight of 2 people?

no, yellow spring lets you run the driven unit outboard vs inboard.

This is the same kart you have, just happened to see it on craigslist today (rare to see these, stars aligned just for you tonight). Notice the orientation of the driven unit? thats the way it should face with a yellow spring.

Oh, so the link I posted for the TC pair above wont work, unless I maybe call and specify I need a reverse rotation driven pulley?
