Hi from Las Vegas

New guy from Las Vegas here. Just picked up a cheap mostly comple go kart off craigslist. Looking to have it together and running as a Christmas present for my kids. I work full time as an electrician and part time as an atv tour guide/mechanic, so I have most of the tools and skills to build a kart. I am a big fan of doing things right, so I will be starting a build thread to get input from all of you experts.

It might be the photo, and I'm not a kart guy, but that engine looks awfully high and to the rear.

yeah that pic's a bit tiny ...

from what I can tell it looks closer to an AmEx than a Dingo (because of the size )
No really.. maybe that's why the engine looks to sit high as well *shrugs*

Anyways.. it's a nice kart

I was told that it's a Dingo. I'll have to work on getting a better pic when I'm off work.

Hopefully this picture will be big enough to see now. I paid $120 for it. It has a brand new B&S 3.5hp on it and the frame was just powdercoated. It needs tires, a seat, and a few odds and ends put back together. Previous owner said they sold the roll cage off of it.

Seems to be a 285 just like El Dingo.

That engine does looks kinda big for a 3.5HP

I'm still not convinced; yes, the steering wheel says it's a dingo (although it could've been swapped out), the front axle is braced (although, IIRC, some later model AmEx's had a braced front axle) but, that little 3.5hp engine does look kinda big &, being that a 3.5hp shroud physically will not fit a larger engine, I'm still inclined to say it's an AmEx... until I see undisputable evidence to the contrary... which would be dimensions; we all know a dingo is larger than an AmEx & I know exactly how big an AmEx is...
