I just bought the plans for the Edge Barracuda so I could use a Busa engine as a go fast off road toy.

I own the following machines to assist with the build: Several CNC mills, CNC and manual lathes, CNC plasma cutter, Spot welder, Mig welder, stick (arc) welder, metal cutting band saws and any related support equipment.

I plan to source the steel from my normal metal supplier here in central Florida, Alroe metals.

I also bought the dxf files from Edge for all of the brackets needed for the build so I can cut them on the plasma cutter without re-drawing them from the plans.

My business partner has a motor vehicle dealer license so I plan to buy a wrecked bike from an insurance crash sale for the engine and ECU.

If I can assist anyone with info on any of the above manufacturing processes please let me know.

Welcome! Sounds like you got a house full of toys..... lol
A busa is WAY TOO MUCH power..... a gixxer 600 is a ton of power. Anything around 250-300 is more than plenty to go FAST AS H€££..... But i like the way you think.....
Seriously, the Busa is WAY. TOO. MUCH.... Too much for what the designers of the frame had in mind as the MOST any sane person (lol who me?) would put on it. You will exceed the safety rating, just busting thru 1st n 2nd..... You will never ever see 6th at any rpm.... I would seriously consider a smaller atv enginein the 300cc range, and maybe get a reverse too.... Just me being practical. 300Cc in top gear,at near top rpm is hauling a§§..... easy 50-60mph..... thats pretty **** fast in a kart/mini buggy.....

This frame is rated for the busa, Z14, GSX1000, Z10 etc... engines. That is why I picked it. I want monster power with no limits. Check out http://www.edge.au.com/ to see it.

All of the equipment except the CNC plasma cutter and a few welders are for my machine shops. I manufacture firearms parts in large quantities.

I saw a "normal" style go kart in Daytona Beach a few years ago during bike week with a Busa engine and decided I had to have one.

im sorry but that looks like a death machine. 300cc is pushing it with a cart but 1000cc will scare the s..t out of you. i had a small carter brothers go kart one seater with a kz1000 engine in it and never cud get it out of second gear or it lose grip of the tires to the road at just 60 mph and never again will i do somthing like that again. i also had a small kart with a kx 250 two stroke engine and it would run @ 80+ mph. if you need anything over 50 mph unless your racing it and it is set up the right way you must have a death wish or somthing. sorry but thats just my opinion. i had a friend that broke hes neck in a custom shifter kart that rolled over on hem at 75+ mph with a roll cage and neck brase and Helmet and if you ask me thats lucky. what part of florida you from?

Have you guys actually seen a Barracuda? It's edge's top of the line buggy; I've seen Baja buggies that aren't as good as it...

I do agree with you one one major point, a Busa has insane power; IMO, this combination will be a nightmare to drive, it'll scare the pants off you every time you drive it but, that's the idea isn't it? :lolgoku:

The Barracuda is closer to a full race rail than a go kart. It has 20" of suspension travel. I am 6 06 and 250 lbs so I need something big,

I am in DeLand just outside of Daytona Beach. If anyone is close I give tours of my machine shop. We have 14 CNC machine centers running 24 hrs a day/5 days a week.

Screw tha tour..... you hiring? LoL (j/k... maybe) Im a machinist in the oil/gas industry.... Love making things.....
Hey, I went back ,and as suspected,I had the wrong kart image in my head. Yes,THAT frame is good to go! I have seen one of those in action,in person.... IT WAS INSANE! Two years ago,we went tomy moms in Corpus for a couple weeks in the summer. There is a dirt track close by, so I took our four wheeler and mysons little ktm jr 50. There was this big go kart/ mini buggy TEARING $H1} UP! Hitting the first of 8 whoops and skipping to the last one.... Hitting the big jump and passing tbe landing hill by a few feet, with NO SUSPENSION BOTTOMING OUT...HOLY COW it was a f'ing BEAST..... It was a brand new "thunder from down under" buggy, as the owner put it. My dad said that that dude was son of one of tbe richest people in CC. Go figure..... It turns out ,he had a sand rail he was redoing. While researching possibilities,he stumbled across Edge products.... He said it took a day to decide he HAD TO HAVE it, 3 days to hash out his custom order, and like 2 months to receive it. This is the only kart/buggy my dad has EVER stared at in awe. My dad aint in to that type thing. He loved what he saw though enough to ask how much. After hearing, he just turned and walked away. I do not recall what his engine was, but it WAS a turbo model......

I'm with you on this one. There's a gadget called a gas pedal , provided you have one, (and not an one/off accelerator switch) I don't see the problem. People drive 600 hp+ supercars on the roads every day and seem to be able to take off from red lights without smoking the tires and getting sideways. It's easier to use less of what you have than than use what you don't.

It's a bit like handling venomous snakes or dangerous animals. As long as you know what you're dealing with and err on the side of caution AND know what you're doing it's only insane to the outsiders.

Go for it- but take care and be safe.

EDIT: BTW- Welcome to the forum! !!!
