IIRC, a stage 1 kit is simply a matter of increasing air flow so, you'll need a high flow air filter & suitable adaptor & a header pipe.

Most headers are 1" for a 212cc Predator.

Keep in mind that, after the above mods, you may need to rejet the carb...

EDIT: Also note that AGKs list of performance basics is all over the place; high flow filter & exhaust should be top of the list, followed by rejetting & governor removal. Upgrage valve springs should be at the bottom of the list...

Now regarding a header would you use a single stage or a dual stage?? Also would i need a muffler or can do without it? Keep in mind the engine will have a K&N filter and possibly a new jet?? Thanks

From the physics of things 'if' I were to do what you are planning... No 'muffler'... straight pipe(1-2ft long). Remembering EVERY bend is a 'slight' restriction. Ive seen em a literally 'straight' pipe, sticking up at an angle... Also seen em 'coiled'(like a snail...kinda neat lookin). Guessin its a matter of how loud you able to handle(pretty loud). The longer the pipe the 'deeper' the tone.

It comes down to what you want; do you want it loud, quiet or somewhere inbetween?

It's not difficult to make your own, see this post for a few tips; let me know if you need any more.

The longer the pipe the 'deeper' the tone.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there; the larger the diameter of the pipe, the deeper the tone

:iagree:my sandrail motor, with stock small exhaust ,makes a high pitch sound... (vw bug motor) but with my stinger exhaust, more than twice the size,is LOUD and PROUD ....... at idle ,it has a deep loping sound. High rpms sings deep roars..... :stir:

Man, I finally got to go to the go kart store today after work. Got new chain, eye balled a new kart I'm gonna buy, and got some advice. Got "hot momma" on the road again with new shoes all around (tires) and she rode good. That harbour freight predator motor is TOP NOTCH in my book. This karts SPINS the one-wheel peel to smoke on rough concrete. I can do a "suzy-Q", and the tire squeel is AWESOME! Gonna get a video tomorrow after church so you can see what I mean..... My wife came outside because she heard tire squeelin and thought it was my uncle. It was me,at least 100 yards away......:wai::devil2:

Anyone use the 420cc 13hp motor?

I use one for a 700lb buggy and just by removing the gov, shaving .30 off of the timing key, opening up the intake adding a 32mm mikuni and making an 1 1/2 exhaust it moves it at about 50mph and still has lots of torque for climbing:thumbsup:
