What are your overall opinions on the Predator line of engines from HF?? Thinking of purchasing the 6.5hp 212cc for my AZUSA gokart kit. Thanks

Many, many people on here have had a huge success rate with the predators. Just make sure you can get it at $99. The coupon comes out every once in a while. Either way, they are still good, cheap, reliable engines.

Its WELL worth the money. That $100 will last you a couple years at the very least. I've been beating the crap out of the one on my daughters kart and it cranks first or second time EVERY TIME.... I say go for it.....

those go in to all of our winch builds and we warranty our winches so I'd say so, plus I de-govern them all and have "hopped" up a few, I love them for their value

Just remember when taking out the governor, to take out everything, including the internals.

For mods, a good place to start is a high flow air filter and exhaust.

What he said.......
But, why do you want to take the govenor out? Just "tweak it" so you are getting like 4000-4200 rpm..... I think the valves start floppin at like 5000 rpm..... more than that, and you're gonna need billet this, billet that.....not worth it to me. I would just put a hi-flo intake and exhaust. ......

Add to that the fact that as soon as you crack the first bolt, you void any warranty. My advice, leave everything as it is until you know it's all good. Once it's settled in, adjust the governor, then, when the warranty runs out you can do what you like...

I buy these engines and crack the bolts to de-govern first day, I've done some un-Godly things to these motors over the years and have had to return them, warranty my @$$, they rarely even check to see if I've returned all the parts, I always tell them there is a operation defect so they don't put it back on the shelf for some poor schmuck to buy, it's your motor so treat it how you want but I'm quick to de-govern mines

Look at BMI karts or ebay. They have the parts you want and its says for honda/predator/clone motors. The predators are copies of honda so most, if not all ,interchange. Ebay is cool cause you catch pretty good deals with no shipping charge...

Run your kart with the engine just as it comes out of the box. My grandson was pleased with the acceleration & speed. I broke the engine in with the throttle stop screw in the original position. After that, I backed out the throttle stop screw out 5 or 6 turns. That increased his speed & acceleration.

Can you modify that link so it goes the the page of the md kit? Not many will navigate the whole site to find a page just to answer a question for you... :)
