Brand new to the go kart world. I have had a gx340 sitting around for awhile now from an old pressure washer. Just decided to use it for something fun. Just picked up a 2 seater kart without a motor for some off-road fun with the kids. Figured I would join here since I am not learning about these things. Through research I found out I need to get a torque converter unless I want to burn up a bunch of clutches. I seem to only find a few different ones from cheapo ones on ebay to the $400 one a gopower. Hoping some here could tell me how well the "cheapo" ones hold up...

Thanks

welcome!

series 40 clones off ebay are just as good as the series 30 clones most of us use
(and are happy about)

One thing might be bad: THE BELT itself.
but you can just buy a comet belt (or any high quality replacement)
and you shouldn't have any problems with it.

Keep in mind that the series 40 is best mounted inboard,
find the comet series 40 manual and use that as your guide.

Any questions better be asked in the engines/clutches forum or -depending on the question at hand- the appropiate forum of course ;)

Just one thing:
before you buy a clutch/TC, make sure you have a straight shaft engine..
since you said pressure washer, chances are you have a tapered shaft on your GX340...
and with that you might not be able to mount a standard clutch or Torque Converter at all.

perfect... Now there's only a very tiny chance you have a metric shaft
which would cause a problem, but I doubt you have one tbh ;)
