...just picking up a 125cc honda street bike engine/tranny/starter/harness/etc...from the local MSF school, and thinking about building myself a kickass shifter kart.

Should be fun; if you have access to the frame GET IT, it'll be easier to chop the frame than fabricate an engine mount...
