I have wanted to build a kart since I was 12 I am 49 now and have the time and resources so here goes.

Has anyon put together a Kart using a motorcycle engine?
On or offroad?
How did it fare?

There have been some that use sled engines the pihranna uses bike engines and there off road and perform GREATLY. you can buy plans for them.

I put a Suzuki DR100 (100cc 4 stroke OHV, approx 8hp) engine in my yard kart once, geared it for 60 haha. I did gear it a bit high but it could still roast the tires in first easily. I took that off and traded the engine for a snowmobile, if i were to do it again i'd use a bigger engine. Overall wasnt very hard, was just 15 at the time (i'm sixteen in 5 days) and just learning to weld.
