Hey whats going on? i stumbled onto this site while looking for a forum about shifters. seems pretty interesting and alot of great projects. well my name is Billy i live in New Mexico. and recently put together a shifter. here is some detail on it.
I have been building this thing for awhile now. Finally got it done, and WOW!!! What a blast!! The frame is made from 1 inch square tubing, engine is a Suzuki DR 500 125 cc engine. It is running on an 18 tooth rear sprocket. It sits a little over 1 inch off the ground. The carb has been upgraded from a 145 jet to a 155 jet. it currently does 105 mph utilizing the manuel 5 speed gearing. The peddle assembly is made with aircraft foot controls that i scored from a buddy who is a pilot in the USAF. Anyways it isnt much to look at, but it sure makes up for it. here are some pics.
here is the Kart as she sits today, like i said it doesnt look like much, but it GETS IT! Notice the temporary gas tank i am using until i complete the actual tank
I made the shifter using part of the orgional on the engine, just turned it upside down so that it would shift correctly with the handle. 1 back 4 forward
the peddle assembly uses a cable throttle, cable clutch and cable to hydraulic braking system
Here you can see the cable to hydraulic brake system, also the ninja exhaust
here is the Suzuki DR 500 with all its 35 hp glory.
