I'm from Walvis Bay, Namibia (Africa)
:2guns:
I'm busy on a project, which is my first.
It's very basic for now.

I'm using a Yamaha 250cc 2-stroke engine from an old yz.:2guns:
I've got no idea what kind of wheels to use. What would be best so that the power won't be undermined? I'm open to tips critisism etc.

HELP!!!

Mainly dunes... and that 2 stroke has MEAN acceleration!!

parts are a bit expensive but scrap yards have so much cool stuff for real cheap!!

I also saw 8 inch ATV wheels...

Hi Arno, welcome to the forum. It is always nice to see someone else from my part of the world (or closer than most people here).

I would have to agree with fowler about using quad wheels. They are generally easy to get, and the bolt patter of the rims are normally pretty standard. You could also look at ride on mower tyres, but they might not perform too well in dunes.

You need tyres where you can keep the pressure low enough to ride on dunes. I would suggest ones with tubes, just for the fact that you can generally keep the pressure much lower than tubeless tyres. (I am sure someone is going to take me on about that though).

no u are wrong

jokes i dont really know

8 inch may do alright

u what the fatest back tyres and the skiniest front tyres
some use motocross tryes for the front but u will need speicel rims for that

for a 250 id stay between 8 inch and 12 inch (rims that is )

if u find some, car tryes that size will work but will not perform well in dunes
but u may be able to fit atv tryes to car rims

if u dont mind what is your budget for this
it will help determine if u can go all out and build a super machine or if u are going to be mostly scraping for parts

Well... to be honest.. i don't really have a buget.. it comes and goes depending on the mood my parents are.. hahaha!!!

I got a rack and pinion steering system from an old ford sierra lying in the bottom of the scram yard and it didn't cost me a cent!

There is still an old audi and BMW engines pulled but still with good parts...

Just another question. Would 32 x 32 2 square tubing work for the frame??
