I just got word that Chris/Doc Sprocket/toystory 4wd/whatever the heck you wanna call him has just gone into surgery to have his kidney removed.

So, let's give him something to come back to: what do you think of when it comes to Doc? It may be a small, otherwise insignificant piece of advice he gave you, a funny post of his or anything; whatever it is, put it down below, let's show him just how much HE means to US, both collectively & individually...

This is a small thing, however something I really appreciate taking into account we live on opposite sides of the world and have never met..

Those who read a recent post from me would recall I was trying to source shift keys for my Spicer Transaxle. I had no chance of getting them over here in Aus, so decided to send Chris a PM asking if he knew of any parts stockists over there. I had read several posts relating to transaxles and got the impression "this guy knows his stuff"

As it turned out, he couldn't find any shift keys but the fact he took the time to look is what sticks in my mind.

I wish Chris all the best for his op and a speedy recovery.

Cheers

I cannot think of anything specific offhand that Doc has taught me, as there are so many. Most of what I know comes from this forum, and a lot of that specifically from Doc. He is a guy that knows his stuff.

I have also learned patience from him when doing moderator duties. Sometimes I feel like just banning people, but have learned to give them a chance sometimes.

I also like the way he takes his time to help people, like ak99 says

See you soon Chris

Chris has been on my friends list since about a week after I joined, just under 2 years ago. Because we have the same wierd, twisted sense of humour, we seem to get along, so well, in fact that, in one of many PMs, I vaguely remember (that's the only way I remember...) one of us (I'm pretty sure it was him) saying if we weren't an ocean & a continent apart, we'd probably get along great.

Wishing you a problem free, speedy recovery :thumbsup: so you can get back to work :D

Although I was reading the one or other post in this forum for some time,
I'm the Noob here, I joined a little over a month ago, so not nearly enough time to really know each other.

Just the other day I needed to have a Canadian address in my ebay account (the watch-thing),
so I asked Chris to help me out. And he just did.
He agreed to receive the part I ordered and forward it to me, just like that.

I mean honestly, I'm a perfect stranger around here, my situation had nothing to do with this forum or even go karts; nonetheless he agreed to help me out.

That's just the kind of guy anyone would be proud to call his friend.

All the best Chris, and the fastest recovery EVER!
I owe you.

As Fab said, Chris & I's sense of humor are pretty well matched, including some war stories about that same sense of humor getting us into real trouble......

This next observation is about all the moderators we have here; it's my humble opinion that we have one of the smoothest running forums around, and it's because of their collective work. I for one try not to take it for granted.....

Chris, here's hoping today went well for you, and a speedy recovery.

Pat :thumbsup::cheers2:

And....

I'm alive. Thanks for the kind words fellahs, there are definitely some people out there around the world that, even though I will never actually meet you, I consider friends. So what's up? Well- I'm pretty dang sore, that's for sure. I got a few new holes in me that I would rather have not had, but then again, I'm alive. The surgery went off without complication. It was done laporoscopically- which is to say that they did it with several smaller incisions and cameras an instruments, rather than one large gaping hole. I've got some pretty good pankillers at my disposal, and I had some really cute nurses, too! You have no idea how much you use your abdominal muscles until you've had abdominal surgery- just lifting your legs in and out of bed can be quite a challenge. Be careful what you take for granted!

I'm on the mend now, I got home from the hospital a couple of hours ago and had a nap. I'm on a leave of absence from work that's good for a month or so. Unfortunately, I won't be able to really work on anything for a week or so. They say I'm not to lift more than 10 lbs (4.5kg) for the next little while, and bending and stretching are kind of limited, too. So- when I'm coherent I'll be on the computer, and when I'm not, probably flaked out on the couch. Either way- I'm doing okay. Thanks again, folks!

:smiley_omg: HE'S ALIVE! Well, there was never any doubt about that but, good to have you back, glad everything went well.

I'm a bit disappointed with the rest of the members though; I posted this thread soon after you went into surgery & this is all you got. I was expecting a lot more responses...
