Hi, obviously I am new to the site. My name is mark. I am a truck driver who lives in Massachusetts. I have a neighbor named Zack. He is 15 years old and a really good kid. He is a little shy at making friends in the neighborhood and is sometime times picked on by the bullies that live near us. He has been taking care of my yard as I am usually on the road working and don't come home 2-4 days during the week. Zack noticed all of my tools in my cellar which include welders, plasma cutters metal chop saws drill presses ect. He also noticed a few Honda engines that I have acquired over some time from my job. We use them to run pumps that deliver the liquid chemicals at my job. Zack asked me if we could build a go-kart. I of course said yes. I bought the plans for the " arachnid " go- kart and we are acquiring the parts needed. It is more involved than we thought and we don't want to build just a basic generic go- kart. So I have found this site and I hope to get the info we will need from all of you experienced builders. Thanks in advance. Mark & Zack.

Mark- Good on ya for being the mentor/role model/"big brother" that you are. The world can certainly use more folks like you. Welcome to our forum, we'll help you out in any way that we can.

Zack- Welcome! Getting into homebrew go karts is an excellent choice, young man! Not only can it be a ton of fun, it's a great learning experience, too. Before very long, you'll have a good working knowledge of things mechanical, and while your buddy is at the side of the road on his cell phone crying to his mom about that flat tire, you'l go scooting past knowing that you're ready for any little curve ball.

Cheers!

Mark, you are kind hearted , red blooded American hero! You're willingness to help and mentor a neighborhood kid,to notice his strife, to care enough to do something about it.... I dont drink but I'd GLADY have a beer with you my friend!:cheers2:
As far as that kart goes, as previously stated, there are a lot of builds for that particular kart so getting good experienced help should not be a problem. All karts are basically the same ,so you will find tons of help here. I
I love to see father/child builds, but your build is more unique. Its not just about havin some fun, spending quality time, and making life-long memories..... Its more....
Zach, you're a very lucky young man to have a neighbor/friend like Mark. Be patient, listen ,and ask questions. (Its how you learn) Dont be discouraged if things dont fit or look right the first time. Seldom is anything perfect the first time out of the gate. The more you learn, the more you build. The more you build, the more you learn and the better you build. See how that works?
I cant wait to see some pics. Start a build thread and document as you go, with pics. This build could be the inspiration some other guy needs to mentor a child in karting as well.... Good luck guys! O , and :welcome2:
