hey guys me and my brother are going to build a live axel kart from a predator 212cc engine and were wondering if this list looks good! It has everything minus the wheels and hubs that we need.

QUESTIONS:
-will this sprocket hub work as a brake disc too? Or will screwing the sprocket to it not allow the caliper to cover it.
-because the axel has 1/4 key way is the keys I have actually 1/2 tall so that it binds the axel to other components such as the wheel hubs or sproket?
-and does the bearing kit just work buy welding the hanger to frame and putting the bearing around the axel and In the hanger? So how does this prevent the axle from shifting right or left?

Thanks!!!

I would just get a 1" bore brake rotor instead of trying to use that sprocket for stopping.

The keyway is 1/4" wide, it is only 1/8" deep. So you'll use a 1/4" keystock.

No, you will need retainer clamps. You want at least 2 per item you want to retain, except for the wheel hubs. You will need only one per wheel hub. Figure for a live axle, you will need:
2X for the wheel hubs
2X for the brake rotor
2X for the sprocket
2X for the axle. On mine, I put one on the outside side of each bearing, but not on the inside. Some guys will tell you that you want one on each side of the bearing. If you go with one on each side, order another pair.
But at minimum you will need 8 retainers.
I used these:

Thanks! Couldn't I just push the brake rotor against a wheel hub and the project against the opposite wheel hub so that I only have to buy 2 per bearing and 1 for each wheel hub?

You "can" use the sprocket as a brake rotor, some custom motorcycles have this. It does add the potential of reduction of braking power, from contamination of grease from the chain.
Then there is the issue of incorperating the calliper with the other components. Will it fit with the calliper bracket installed.

It just takes some real good thinking and some reaseach on the subject.

Ok so i think all that i need now are wheels and wheel hubs. Anyone have good ideas for really cheap wheels? Thining of calling around to the gokart tracks and airstrips to see if they'll give me there old stuff

That's the best bet. Find out when the local kart races are, and then the day after, call up the local karting shop and find out if they have any turn ins. I got two sets of used wheels and tires that way.

Watch eBay and craigslist. I've seen sets of them go up for sale for cheap, usually you can find someone getting out of karting at the end of a karting seaon and they are trying to dump all their stuff. Lots of good deals to be had that way.
