my go-kart came with 2 neon lamp lights and a neon lamp on and off switch with 3 connection on the bottom. But the wiring is not hook up yet so i need some help. I notice that each neon light has only one wire sticking out which i dont understand how that would make it light up,wouldnt it require a second wire like a + and - to give it power?I also dont know how much volt is needed. Here are some pictures too. Any help?thanks

GOd damit this is my 3rd time typing this. stupid forum layout. anyways.

white wiring coming off the lamp is the +
clamp that connects to the frame is the - connection

when the switch is flipped up top 2 tabs are conected. when its flipped down botton 2 are connected. youll need to atach the wire from the + ternminal of the battery to the middle tab. and the top tab to the white wire. ground( - ) from battery is attached to frame or to the clamp thats holding the light

if you need anything else let up know

how you have it now is correct. and the switch in its current position = lights off.

the bottom tab just gives you the option of having another circuit of some kind on the same switch but working opposite to the top tab. you can buy switches with multiple tabs for different purposes. just ignore it as you dont need it..

What you have there is a single-pole, double-throw switch, (SPDT). It means that it can be in either of two positions. The middle tab being the common to the other two. The two outer tabs are the one's that get switched. When one is on, the other is off. All you need is one of the outer tabs and the middle tab, just like red said, you have it correct in your drawing. If you were using the switch to select between two different things, then you would use both tabs. Since you're only using it to switch lights on and off, you only need one.

id get a car battery. but even those arent going to like a constant drain, recharge cycle and will die premature. get a deep cycle battery if you can. they're better suited for it.

does this kart have an alternator/generator on it? or the engine?

I cant walk through the computer and inspect your engine, get a good small engine mech to figure it out.

And I thought you were cool! :arf:

How about trying to see if you can find ANY sort of information on the engine itself, i.e. numbers, names, etc, that may help identify it? This would help pinpoint what you got and what it has/can do.

Or better yet, how about you let me have it and I'll figure it out? LOL JK:roflol:

Haha. Well i try to look around the engine for like model number name or anything but it seem like the engine have been painted and couldnt find much info about it. Anyway i will try to take some more pictures of the engine so maybe can narrow it down. Im gonna start a new thread too since we're way out of the original topic
