help with linkage on build

anyone know of a device i can use to move this back and forward? it is the engage so it will have to hold pressure i assume....some kinda actuator or something im open to ideas.... also it will have to hold the weather and the snow and rain

its a snow blower attachment for a lawn tractor. its off a gibson and i have a sears, i can mount it but need this one thing figured out

You sure that setup is correct?

the idler should tension the belt.. 'closer' to the big pulley to engage;
right now it looks like it's doing the opposite (and either not engaging or eating the belt with that tiny wire)

*shrugs*

Anyways.. if that's spring loaded in some way (i.e. moves into idle position on it's own)
a parking brake setup should do the trick of locking it engaged..

you mean as to the belt route? i bought the unit for 30$ and it had sat for some time so im not entirely sure on much other than the said part is the engage.... still some work their but i think i can get it


as to the set up you suggested where would i get the parts and how to set it up? and pictures i can get of a similar setup?

any ratched type lever will work.. there are some for karts, golf carts
and maybe even for mowers and tractors I believe...
So the cheapest you can find should be about what you need
(or get one from a junk yard, again.. if it's cheap and has a ratched.. it's the one you want )

How to set it up?
Well, attach either a rod or wire of proper length, so that the lever engages the idler as it pulls (and because of it's ratcheting nature locks )

a more detailed explanation is rather impossible (at least for me) as long as I am unable to decipher the setup you have there or know where the lever would need to be in regards to what's on the pic.

Personally.. I guess you should FIRST make sure what's what and what goes where;
Best find the manual for it, to see how the belt should be routed and how it originally engaged.
Then it should be pretty straight forward to replicate the original actuation,
or at least how to set up a practical replacement.

OK....This should help turn on the light bulb.....

See that little red circle? ??? THAT'S where the little pulley should be..with the belt on the left side of it...do that...and it should become clearer how that is supposed to work.

EDIT: (At least as how the belt should be routed.....the pulley isn't going to move that far over...but hopefully..this will give you the idea...)
