So I decided I wanted to try and build my own go kart for the first time. I decided I wanted to go as cheap as possible because I didn't know how well this would turn out. I bought a USED 6.5hp predator engine and when I received it through UPS the long horizontal shaft key way was broken. I also bought a clutch and it came with a key way the only problem is that key way is to short.

The original key way for the shaft was a 3/16" that was a little over 2" long.

Long story short is how do I mount my clutch or get a new key way. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Key way or key stock? Sorry I do not understand, is the shaft damaged like this

or is the key stock that came with the engine (the square 3/16" bar) damaged?
I do not understand the issue, pics would help.

not sure what your trying to say. but if your crankshaft is broken you can get another one on ebay for pretty cheap.

They are not too common on eBay, there is one there currently but the predator cranks are pretty hard to get.

Keystock

I apologize for not being clear it is the key stock, the 3/16" square bar that is broken. The shaft is fine.

oh, that is a super simple fix. just get a new one. are you asking where you can get one? I would go online...maybe a specialized store has one near you.

You can buy 3/16" key stock at most any good hardware store. They're usually sold in 12" lengths and you'd simply use a hacksaw to cut the length you need.

PS: that short key you have now might work fine. It only needs to be as long as the keyway (slot) in your clutch.

Sounds like to me you already have the keystock on the clutch. If so just slide it into the keyway, tighten your setscrew and your good to go. If not cut off a chunk, pound it in the keyway, set your setscrew and on your way.
