I bought a brand new GX 200 Honda motor and have installed it in a older double seater manco go kart. I did a stage 1 mod kit bought through affordable go karts. The kit includes uni-filter, open dual stage header, complete removal of governor from inside the crankcase, 18 pound valve spring and larger main jet (#90). The kart fires up and will idle just fine and I can slowly increase the throttle and engine speed with increase but as soon as I open it past quarter throttle whether I do it slowly or quickly motor just dies and quits. Any suggestions as to what to look for or what might be issue? Thanks in advance.

It;s almost like once I get into the main jet it's not getting enough fuel. Going to pull carb apart again and check if something wrong with new main jet but pretty sure its installed correctly.

Ensure there air no air leaks in carb gaskets. Double check for adequate fuel flow through the shutoff valve, and check float height/operation. If all that get you nowhere, I'm inclined to think that you're just jetted lean, and need to open up your jet. Do you own a set of numbered (precision) drills?

Ahh, good. So take the jet out, and use your bits to determine the size you have. Now- this is where you do or die...

Drill jet ONE bit size larger, and test. If things seem to improve, and you can get it to throttle up, you can read the plug and continue tests. If things somehow worsten, you can either solder and re-drill to original size, or replace jet.

This is assuming all the above yielded no results.

Try doing what you're doing with the choke 1/2 on. If it gets better it needs more fuel.

I'd still say you have a gasket issue though since a #90 should be pretty much spot on with a header/intake. You didn't put that insulator on wrong did you? That will cause an air problem.

spray carb cleaner around the intake gaskets, if you notice a difference in rpms then you have a leak
