Help with clutch after crankshaft replacement on predator 212

I replaceded my crankshaft on my predator 212 with another predator 212 and i thought the crankshaft was supposed to be the same size but no clutches i have fit but they fit on my other crankshaft i bought one that was another size down how would i keep my clutch on?

Are your crankshafts rusty? Rust enlarges the outside diameter FYI, and the inside diameter of the bore of a clutch. Ensure that your clutches are 3/4”.

Measure the crankshaft diameter so we have a clue what you are talking about. Sounds like you got a 5/8" or metric crank and not the 3/4" (.750) you thought you were buying. Where did you buy it from is another question? See if the bolt you had holding on the clutch before fits the new crankshaft you have which could give you a clue if it is possibly metric .

the second picture is the what was a 3/4 clutch that fit on my other crankshaft but has all thag wiggle room in the middle and the second clutch (the better looking one) i just forced on it went on but i had to hammer it in so could that one work lmao

You need to have more patience and do things proper or youre going to end up injured.

I would question the integrity of anything that required hammering to the point of not even taking the chance of using it.

Be careful man. Stuff spins REALLY fast.

well i dont know lmao both different sized clutches i had didnt fit whether it was too big or too small but the crankshaft was from another predator 212 so i dont know why no clutch i have dosent fit

Measure the crankshaft diameter so we have a clue what you are talking about. Sounds like you got a 5/8" or metric crank and not the 3/4" (.750) you thought you were buying. the bolt fits, the crank came from another 212 the cranks got a little chip in it at the end but that shouldnt have all of that room the clutches i have are 3/4 and a 5/8 one the 5/8 is too small and the 3/4 one is just a little bit too big

**** the other crankshaft is in better condition its just i broke a bolt inside and nobody in my town will rethread it for me and it dosent have two keyways lmao its just chipped its not new new just new to me

Well let's just check out the china clutch to see what you have. Take a penny and see if it fits nicely into both ends of the clutch. A penny is exactly .750 (3/4" ) in diameter and is a great measuring device. If the penny fits in the clutch then you know the new clutch has the correct diameter. The replacement crank does look a little beat up but it is on a mini-bike and is going to be inboard mounted (sprocket next to the engine), correct? If that is correct then I will proceed but you have to tell me if the penny fits both ends og the clutch. Start saving your pennys they quit making them so we are losing a measuring instrument.

moberly missouri, i tried calling mechanics one dude tried charging 150 just to rethread it and i called a small engine repair shop and they said they probably cant do it lol

The crankshaft in photo #1 looks suspect, as if the previous owner put a file on it while it was spinning and made it smaller. No telling what you may end up with if you don't buy new parts. A cheap way of checking outside diameter is to put a 3/4" wrench on it, otherwise I have and use a dial caliper all the time for measuring such things.

Yikes you are in the middle of the middle of not much. Not nowhere, because it is The USA. To remove that broken bolt, you just need a sharp metal drill and an extractor. The tools are cheaper than the new part or a professional hand.

yeah i bought a rethreading thing i got it drilled out already just the rethreading is what i dont want to do, im kinda lazy lmao

Several ways the crank can get worn down and Hellion has one example. The most common one is that crank you got came rom an engine that had the clutch mounted OUTBOARD and he wore the bushing out in the clutch and then the sprocket started wearing on the sleeve and then wore into the crank. Just piss poor maintenance by the former owner of that crank.

Now if you are mounting the clutch INBOARD sprocket next to the engine then it will work find because nothing is happening on the shoe assembly end of the crank. All the pressure is next to the crankcase and that will run true. You just have to hold the clutch in place with a bolt and washer. DON'T USE THE SET SCREW BECAUSE THEN YOU WILL COCK THE CLUTCH WHICH WILL THEN SHAKE OUT YOUR TEETH.

not really a kart but its a coleman ct200u and i couldnt find a 3/4 wrench i took a 5/8 to it and it fit perfectly but the 5/8 clutch i have is the one i hammered on lmao
