Help with brakes!

Ok I got the linkages for my yerf dog from the seller also bought new brakes... yet I can find no way that they would connect to one another...

I just dont see any way for them to connect using the anchor point and the linkages to the brake band..... if anyone is able to offer any direction id be grateful.

you got it backwards. the mounting pin goes through the other eyelet, and the linkage connects on top

if you notice in the picture, with the linkage attaching on top, it would not reach, nor would the linkage work over the anchor..... but with it mounting on the bottom the linkage is too long...

i have no idea what the is going on..........

if you can quickly remove the wheel, and take a good picture, I'm sure the people can exactly show you what to do

As it sits in tha last pic, flip the linkage end to end & side to side & feed it under the top band mount...

i wont be able to do so until tuesday....
i've tried with the band attached in either direction, the linkage is too long.... but it's the original linkage...


grrr...

and the brake bands are the same size as the original ones....

i see you have threads on your linkage at the end where you can adjust it. i would try adjust it. your old brake band mite have stretch some if its really old.

if you noticed on the first and third picture, there are two linkages, one has the clevis yoke end which is adjustable, the other is a solid rod.
but both of them are too long.

If you notice in picture #2 and in #3 i have the brake band on in either direction, i tried to run the linkage on bottom but it's like 5" too long! lol..... but if i try to run it on top then it will not work over the anchor bolt...

i texted the seller but he's not responding any more.... hmmmm......
i might end up having to fab my own linkages.......

i did some searching but could not find any pictures of other people's brake band set up.. i did see a video someone posted of a young boy going over his brake set up but his band is being pulled by a spring.... i'm pretty sure this set up will need a solid rod to maximize the contact that the brake band has with the drum..

But... I too use a 4" band brake simular to yours. I use a bike brake cable and a bullet shell to 'pull' my brakes... and it 'can' lockup the wheel... and as far as pic of setup(s)... all ya gotta do is post a thread, asking...

BTW I use 2 sets of brakes on my kart... scrub and band. Scrubs are backup brakes incase the band fails...

That's what I see too.It looks like if he would put the bottom of the brake band on the stationary pin-(like it's supposed to be), the top would move back so he could attach the linkage. At any rate it is backwards. ....

That could be the most bizarre and unexpected use of a bullet casing I have ever seen! Good thing it's a used shell. Do it with a new one, and you risk shootin' in a new oil drain hole...

Absolutely! And not only is it NOT a bad thing, I take pride in my OWN ability to look at things under a different light, think outside the box, re-purpose stuff, etc. All part of the DIY thing!

Here are a few more pics. I cant take the wheel off today but hopefully this will show my dilema

If you notice the linkage going underneath, the end of the linkage goes all the way to the axle

With the band reversed and the linkage on top it doesn't reach the band nor does it clear the anchor....

Change the linkage to fit, or in the first pic put the clevis on the brake arm and the L shaped piece with threads on the band(with the band anchor on the bottom) clamping on the top. Then it is adjustable to the right clamping.

Is it just me or is this a left and right side pics, or one and are flipped???
