Hey guys I bought my first Go-Kart this past week, was gold now I painted it all black. Got it up and running, runs pretty good but I'm about 6 ft tall and don't fit in this thing. is there a safe easy way to cut and re-weld this frame? (Checkout pictures below)

Also, I need to replace the clutch, should i go with Comet 400 Series or Comet E-Z Rider Clutch?! (Links to clutches below).

I don't know about the repairing old clutches, but for the new one, I'd go with the 400.

Figure out a way to extend the front foot area. Leave the wheels where they are. Make another bumper and put your pedals out further.

Remake the steering shaft bars to make more room. A simple hoop bar will work.

What is a hoop bar? So you think I should leave the wheels where they are? Then I would reach over the steering to hit the gas/brake

I agree with Bighead, You'd be much better off simply extending your karts front bumper area and moving the pedals further forward. This would also be much easier mod to do.

(the hoop bar was just Bigheads nickname for those brace-bars running in-between your front bumper and steering column supports)

Besides achieving more leg-room, getting your feet and legs further forward will transfer more of your weight to the front tires and improve your steering grip.

(Most karts handle and turn best with around 60% of the total (driver/kart) weight on the back tires, and 40% on the fronts. You could use bathroom scales to check your karts front/rear weight bias. I'm guessing you've got about 75% of your total weight on the back tires now...)

Those Comet clutches work ok, but if you want a much better clutch model I'd suggest this one instead:

Or if your on a tight budget, this model would probably be better than either of those Comets: http://www.mfgsupply.com/GoMiniClutchCentHilliard.html

So even if i were to extend the gas/brakes and not the steering, you think I wouldn't have a problem with my legs being overtop of the steering bars?

Most kart are set up like that anyway. Look at my dingo. I know it not the same. ut gives you an idea how the tierods can be right there in front of the pedals. Just make room for your heels.

The steering bar would be a none for your legs go over them. Just make a new bumper and a place to mount the pedals. Then all you need is longer cables. Your kart will ride much better than making it long.

Hoop bar is the little hoop that braces the steering shaft.

That being said it looks like your kart has been shortened in the past. If so then you may want to make in longer. To me it looks like someone made it shorter for a smaller rider. I do not know I cannot figure it out. It's your pics are funky or it had some magor mods to it's lenth already.

Also all thos bar may not let you be tossed from the kart in a roll over. NOT GOOD. I would change all that and go back to normal.

I can see your foot or both legs getting caught inside thos bars. It would not be pretty friend. Hardto see how the bars are setup from the pics. Is your leg inside those bars?
