Hello, i'm 15 years old and trying to get more involved in Go Karts ever since when i had one at 8 years old. I'm planning on picking up a Yerf Dog 3203 for $275 with a non-working engine and i already know i'm going to buy a predator 212 from harbor fright (like most people do) and i'm wondering what parts will i need to get it up and running.

Welcome to the forum!!

You will probably just need a new throttle cable. You can use bicycle cable for that. You should be able to find it quite easily in Walmart or wherever. Take some pics when you get the kart. We will then be able to give you a better idea of what you need. You will have to look at your gearing too if the previous owner changed things

You better acquire it first. We've had more than one newbie make all these plans for a kart he/she saw for sale only to have it sold out from under them. First come, first served you know.
Strike first!

I wouldn't pay more than $200 for a kart with a non-working engine and it would have to be in VG condition. In other words, for $275 I expect a lot. Your mileage may vary however. Whatever you're comfortable paying.

I was about to comment on condition because i own a yerfdog and trust me tires and shocks are EXPENSIVE! But it seems fine. Make the ticrapseh run or a 212 will bolt up to the tc.

What do you mean by non-working engine? You might get away with a new plug and a carb cleaning unless it's locked up or damaged. The Tecumseh isn't all that bad of an engine plus you won't have to modify anything if you get it running. Start cheap then work your way up. I have a 5 HP Tecumseh on my 415 and it runs pretty good. Just a thought.

Having had two cart with the tecumseh I would see if you can get it to run on starting fluid. These are infamous for carb problems. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to check for spark as well. I bought a 3202 that wasnt running this spring and all it needed was a carb clean and it runs fine now. Obviously I'm not going to try to talk you out of a predator, but fixing the tecumseh may be quite a bit cheaper.

Same here, no complaints.

Exactly. I put a brand new factory carb on mine & it still wouldn't run right. I had to raise the float since there are no adjustments on the "emission" carburetors. It runs "okay" now, not stellar though. Still cheaper than replacing the engine. Once you get it going and you're sure everything else seems to be in good shape then maybe consider an upgrade.
