help please

hello all,

i am building a drift trike and am following a guide. i have a 1" axle i am going to weld a sprocket to. however on the shaft coming out of the engine, how do install the sprocket? the shaft has a key way but the inside of the sprocket has teeth? im sorry im new to this and i realize this might be a stupid question. also it is a 3/4 inch shaft (i dont know the key way size but im guessing its standardized so i wont go find out)

Never Ever weld anything to you axle. Get a sprocket hub.
You need a Centrifugal clutch (comes with the Gear) for the engine shaft.
Can be found on Ebay for 20 bucks

it is a small 7hp 2 stroke engine and i only want a single gear i dont quite understand why i would need a clutch?

Key way on the engine is a 3/16" and is standard size. For the sprocket to the axle, get a hub...if you ever need to change out sprockets it's just a few bolts and off...welding it is a bad idea. I know Rather B welding does it on his Karts, but that's not what your supposed to do.

As soon as you start it it will take off.
You would have no neutral. As long as the engine is spinning your axle will either spin, move the Trike forward or stall.
