I purchased this yesterday after reading a posting on here that said, (when you think you've found a good deal)..buy it first and ask questions later. I need to know what it is (brand/model) so I can find replacement parts and decide which way to start on the rebuild. The previous owner didn't know much about it. He never had it running and said the original owner told him that it came with a 250cc motor. He had tried to tie this '08 Ninja EFI 650 into it but never finished. I have the FNR (pictured) reared but no axles. I don't need to go 120MPH so I will probably take the Ninja motor out and look at other options with a CVT and the original rearend. The Kart and the rearend have no markings that I can find. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I know a lot of bike engine mini buggy guys are running electric reverse on their rigs because gearboxes that can handle the abuse are few and far between. And expensive.

Dadgum, that thing is huge. Problem is, Chinese Buggy or no (that's real descriptive), no one seems to know anything about these things--they're poorly documented and the parts are hard to find.
Like looking for a needle in a stack of needles.
Not nearly as universal as a good ol' American go kart.

I'd stick with the Ninja engine if it's liquid cooled.

As far as a FNR gear box goes, some strip ones off of a Polaris ATV. Some had a divorced (engine and gear box were seperate) that was Hi, Neutral, Low, Reverse. Probably would not handle the high rpms of a motorcycle engine well, but that is what a lot use. Like already mentioned, some use an automotive starter and a large gear for a short reverse, usually just to back it off a trailer and not for turning around. Using it for long, you'll wear out the starter quickly.

It is huge. It's going to be a great project. The 650 is water cooled and it would make tons of power. I'm just unsure on exactly how to set it up. I guess more research is in order. If you have any recommendations on what to do on the rearend or any links for advice that would be awesome.

I second this. I'd love to find something like this to build and take to St. Joe state park twice a year.

If I was you, I would pick up a used cheap Quad with independent suspension and modify the axle shafts it to work for your application. Parts would be easier to get after that.
