Hello everyone!
I just purchased a yerff dog go kart for my son.
It has a tecumseh ohh50 , spec 68133H 5hp engine. My problem is the throttle cable broke and it seems as if the carb was replaced with a Hua Yang carb. It ran great with this carb but I can't find a replacement cable anywhere. My son is heart broken and I've reached a dead end.
I know this kart is a "back yard" toy but im hoping somebody will read this and be able to point me in the right direction..

Hello and welcome.

If the cable went into the top and it looks like you fished out the end?
If so, look for some bicycle cable at wallmart or the like. cut what you need.

What kind of end is it. Does it have a molded lead "stopper" on the end of the wire or is it plain?

Hello, and thank you for your response..
I didnt see anything on the end of the cable that might have connected it to the carb.
Here are a few more pictures of the cable end and where it went into the carb. .

Unscrew the top off the carb, and pull the slided out. You will see a continuous slot along one side of the slide. This is where the end of the throttle cable will attatch.
Now, looking up into the slide, on the side where the needle sticks out, you will see an indention of some sort where the end of the cable will eventually stay in place. For example, A Mikuni VM22 and Walbro P 22 both use a cable with a cylindrical end; and recess into a cylindrical indention into the slide, keeping the wire from pulling out.
Some slides may have a hemispherical indention, in which a ball type end would ride.

The thing to keep in mind is this, the ball end of the cable should recess up into the slide almost completely, as not to keep the slide from completely closing. If you end up with a cable with a ball end that's too big to fit, it isn't hard to file that lead ball down. Just make sure the end fits in there without sticking out and causing you high-idle problems later on.

Thank you soooo much for the information.
I retrieved the slide from the carb and saw how the cable attached.
I went to the hardware store and purchased a bicycle cable kit for $6.99. I managed to use a needle file to get the cable stop down to size so it would fit through the collar on the screw cap on the carb and not interfere with the needle or the slide. Im going to reinstall the carb in the morning.
invaluable advise which made for one very happy little boy. I cant thank you enough!!
Outstanding job!!!

Good deal man! Slide carbs are nice and clean when it comes to linkage set-up and tuning. No external linkage parts to get dirty and bind. They're the bee's knees.

Thanks Dan, Good to hear about that type.
I wasnt to sure about how exactly it mates with the cable, but I knew about getting a replacement cable is simple and now how relatively easy it is to repair those carbs.

You're quite welcome.

I'm not saying they are the end-all-be-all; but (and this is from someone with very limited knowledge on carbs period) it was very easy to tune. The only caveat is that there are a plethora of knock offs and OEM made differences amoungst some of the more popular carbs which may present some minir obstacles; but as long as you research and find one with readily available jets, adjustments are nice and simple.
