Hello guys,

I am looking to make a tony kart replica and want to find a 1.250 inch thickness that is mig weld able. I don't want to spend too much money but want strength,

Any word?

Cheers

Most of us use around 16-14 guage material. 16 will hold up fine at 1.25" diameter or bigger, 14 is good in a pinch, but just adds more weight.

If you're concerened about strength then go up in tube size, not wall thickness.

I'm building a large 2 seater with a 51 hp snowmobile engine using 1.5" 16 guage square tube, and expect it to hold up perfectly fine, just for reference.

Also 16 guage is extremely easy to mig weld, just keep your amps low.
