Help? installing pickup tube

While cleaning the carb on my model 130212 (hor shaft 5 hp, diaphragm type carb) I accidentally broke off the shorter pick up tube on my carb, I ordered a replacement and manged to get the old one out but I need to know how to install the new one.

I'm lazy so I would just tack weld it in

Should just be a press fit.

Turns out it was, just needed to push a bit harder. But one problem always leads to another I usually accept this but timing is bad for me, the POS blew its obsolete cat99 driven pully, on the second lap, after I fixed the carb. Doesnt look like I can get parts and I dont have the $160 for a whole new torque converter.
