This one has me at a loss. it's been in the garage for a couple of years and I still have no clue what it is. It had a kt100 on it when I got it. Old Dap karts seem to have some similarities, talking with a guy at a local club he (based on my description) said it could be a Swiss Hutlass or old kiwi kart. Somebody has removed the rear nurf bar mounts and bodged the right hand seat frame. Axle is 30mm with step down to 25mm on the ends, I'm not sure if it is origional or not though, it's also got adjustable camber. Even if somebody a bit more knowlagable than me could give me an idea as to it's age that would be great.

I'm restoring the frame back to origional, going to powdercoat it, mount plastics and a kt100 for dirt racing.

BTW I'm in New Zealand

Looks like a kart to me.....LOL.

Not too sure what type though. Are there any stamps or numbers on the frame anywhere. Try looking around the spindles

Oh....and welcome to the forum

That's a good observation lol.

No, there isn't a single identifying mark on it. even the aluminum parts don't have a makers name cast into them. One of the reasons I thought it might be a late 80s Kiwikart.

Thanks for the welcome, I did spend a bit of time on here 4 years ago but I got out of karts untill now. I always wanted to get back into them though. I had wanted to build a replica vintage kart as I have factory go kart 800, 400 (proper ones not the crappy ebay ones) and Carreta plans. Problem is I can't realy race those carts here though so I would be on my own.

I'd like to get a glimpse at the Caretta plans :D

Anyways..
Kart.. it's most likely not a swiss hutless (spindles are of the wrong type)
SH I know have bracket spindles on eyelets, not eyelet spindles in brackets.

I honestly never saw a kart with a seat mount like that,
especially the bar behind the seat is very odd to me...

The front bumper (or the mounting point) looks Dino to me
the rest could be Benson or maybe Demon I guess...
the triangle in front of the seat moves it closer to the late 70s
that into the early 80s I guess, but since I cannot tell it's brand
even that is just a guess.

I'm sorry, I'll remember that seatmount and as soon as I stumble across something similar,
I'll let you know.

Thanks Sid, that gave me a whole lot to search for, I can't find any Benson or Demon karts the same though, Bensons seem kind of similar. Things I have discovered while reserching, it has Modern bearing hangers, front track is wide, it is 28mm tubing. And the thing that has swayed me to thinking early 90s is the front mounts for the Nurf bars point away from the kart rather than towards the back wheels maybe sugesting it was supposed to have side pods, didn't they come in around 90?

I have a photo of the plans somewhere, I haven't been able to scan them because the plans are A1 size. Signed off by Duffy Livingstone from memory, or some other famous guy can't quite remember.

Wait, the front mounts for the Nerf bars point towards the back.. (Picture #4 & #9)
But you're right.. somehow it looks like it had side pods :(
I don't know when they were introduced, but it's closer to 90 than 80 for sure..

I'm sorry, I don't know :surrender:
