I would buy 6013, all purpose rod. That way you don't need to keep them completely sealed and heat them, to drive off moisture, when you need to use them.

That spool is for a MIG welder, you've got an arc welder, you need rods. Einhell is on sale here as well and I stay as far away from them as possible - admittedly I have never used their products and you may find that I'm just biased and that your machine weld like a Lincoln on steroids.

Do'nt be in a rush to put rod to metal - research the subject properly. Their is a lot of material on the web that'll help you to get started.

And always remember, safety is very important. Safety equipment is really cheap compared to the price of other welding consumables so you've got no reason to skimp.

Jeez mate, you're not living in Sudan. Every hardware shop I know of sell 6013 around here and we're not exactly first world, you know.

If I were you I'd stay away from those rods. There's no identifiable markings and no description on the box. The flux is probably pulped newspaper and the rod recycled bicycle frame steel.

Highly likely that it'll weld like :censored: and put you off welding forever.

BOC must have some outlets near you. Take the time and make the effort to visit them and speak to an expert.

If you want to get the best out of your machine and make the experience less painful a good quality rod is essential. I've got some quality 6013 that is just a pleasure to weld with - you tap it against the steel and the arc starts and you drag it, no fighting to maintain a gap. But that's just because of the rod and flux properties. Other 6013 I have will absolutely drive you crazy, since you're fighting to start and keep the arc alive all the way.

Pay a bit more for a high quality 6013 while you learning. When you've build your confidence then look at lower quality, lower cost rods.

Whatever you do I wish you luck.

Good tip - join mig-welding.co.uk, they'll be able to advise you to where in your area you'll be able to get some good rods.

Cheers

Do'nt worry - I've been welding for years and still struggle to get decent welds.

Good Luck!

You will have to re harden the steel after welding, and its generally a bad idea to weld on a clutch since heating it up could make it brittle. Why would you want to weld something onto the clutch bell?
