Gasket to seal between adapter and carb, briggs sells them(mom and pop HW store will have/order) You need the "gasket between the carb and airbox". You need to go to a motorcycle store that sells UNI filters and ask for a double layer pod with a 2 1/2" ID.

About $20 for the filter but it lasts FOREVER and doesn't need any fancy oils like the K&N, just wash with cold soapy water and oil with motor oil(soak and squeeze out excess). Oil before using it.

okay, well thanks to everyone for all of your help... I hope everyone has a great and safe weekend!!! I don't have the internet at home, so you won't hear from me unless I'm at work. I'm really glad that I stumbled across this site though. It's nice to get to talk with people that share the same interests. :cheers2:

I made my own adapter for the carb, now I am gonna order the UNIfilter for it today. I finally got the kart out on the road the other day and I'm pretty happy with it. I figured it would be a lot slower considering that I am 180 lbs and it's only 5hp. I'm sure that I got up to around 40 mph. I wasn't over-revving it either. Not once did I even attempt to floor the gas pedal. I'm quite happy with it. I still want to make it faster though. :wai:

one last thing.... I got my UNIfilter in the mail yesterday and I didn't order the oil. can I run up to the auto parts store and buy the K & N oil to use on this filter or is that something different ?

okay cool, thanks again. how do I fix my pull start so it'll quit messing up ? the other day, I was pulling it and the rope broke, so I took it all apart and finally got the coil winded back up and put everything back in place with a new rope... it worked fine several times after that, but now all of the sudden, the rope is pulled all of the way out and it's stuck that way... GRRR!!!! please someone give me a solution so I don't have to keep messing with it.

what would I need to do about that ? could that be causing a squeeling noise also when I get going fast and I press the gas harder ? can I oil it ?

Real easy, all you do is pull the cooling tin/recoil assembly off, remove the safety screen and CAREFULLY use a small screwdriver and hammer to pop the cap off the starter clutch, then clean and lube the crankshaft, seal on the cap and balls with a light oil. Reassemble using the screen screws/screen to press the cap back on the clutch.

oh okay, yeah I've taken all that apart before. how do they crank the "raptor" motors or whatever the other racing motors are like on ebay or whatever without the pull start assembly ? and do yoou think that may also be the source of the squeeling that I mentioned above ?
