As a tire guy that has experience your tire shops aren’t trying to hard to get them off. Especially if they are 2 piece wheels. And Houston should have more than enough good tire shops that know better.

That's what I was thinking after the first shop but then the second place put some oil on them and kept them over night and still could not get them off the next day. I will try a third place. I looked online for the carter wheels and can't find them anywhere

do you have to use that exact type ? is there another option of tire and rim you could use instead ?

If it is a 2 piece .... that means there is a tube ?

Need Pictures and more info

I ran into the same problem as you. Carter wheels are not made anymore and have the odd 3-1/8" bolt pattern. They do pop up on ebay every once and awhile, but few and far between. Check out my thread here to see what I did http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=34607

So in short, cut the old tire to get access to the tire bead and snip it with some wire cutters, I salvaged my wheels and they've held up fine.

Texan thanks for the glimmer of hope, I was thinking the same exact thing, trying to cut them off. I will keep you updated on progress, will try to post pics if I figure that one out also lol

One thing I have done is shoot 'em good with PB Blaster and use several C-Clamps.
Get the round part of the clamp as close to the rim as you can and tighten the clamps a little bit at a time, shooting more PB in as you go.
Sometimes it works, sometimes you gotta cut 'em off.

they look pretty bad, but I think with a little wire wheel action they should clean up well and still be salvageable
