Help! Drive clutch bolt broken off in motor's output shaft

I am a NOOB and was replacing the belt on a comet 30 series today. Had everything on and almost put back together, but there was still a very small amount of play in the outer cover of the drive unit after tightening the bolt pretty snug. I assumed there should be zero play, so I kept trying to tighten the bolt more, and eventually broke it off. There's nothing left to grab onto as the break point is inside the motor's output shaft (not too deep, but still - nothing to grab onto).
Any good tips of how to get the bolt out of the output shaft? Also, was I wrong to assume there should be zero play on the outer cover once everything was tightened down? I used the provided spacers, but maybe I needed another washer perhaps?

Thanks
