Help a newbie to go-kart/all things motor

Ok so today in a few hours I'm going to buy a motor new but I seen it and the shaft dosent have anything on it but my old motors shaft has this which connects to the belt and wheel do I need to take this off and put it on my new motor? What is this part called? Should my new motor come with this?

usely the recoil start is riveted on or spot welded on to the shroud but some do have nuts and bolts. if you do use the nuts and bolts use the head of the bolt on the inside of the shroud makeing the threaded part on the outside of the shroud.

that is a pully clutch, yes you need to take that off and use it on the new engine. whats the new engine, make ? and hp/cc ? the new engine is going to need a 3/4 shaft for that clutch to fit. you going to sell the briggs ? if yes let me know.

You will need to undo the outside most bolt in the center of the shaft, also it looks like there is a setscrew in the sleeve so undo that aswell.
The motor has been left outside for a while, SO.. it will be slightly to extremely rusted on. I cant say for sure, but it happends.
Id soak it down in PB baster or Liquid wrench for a while.

the motor i will be getting is a predtor 6.5hp i think 212cc .how do i undo the set screw and where is it when i try to remove the clutch it just keeps turning. i attached some photos of the motor and its specs will it work? like can i use it to swap out my old motor

yes it will work with the new engine. the set screw is on the coller off the clutch. you will need a allen wrech to remove it.

The setscrew is on the 12o'clock position of your last pic, above the center bolt.

You might need to use a strap wrench or a rope wrapped tightly around the pulley, something to stall the turning of the clutch, when undoing the bolt in the middle.

You can also use a gear puller to get it off. They don't 'screw' off, so it shouldn't reall matter if the shaft turns a bit trying to get it off. All you have to do is pull it

It holds the clutch on the shaft, preventing it drifting off the shaft.

Do u guys know of any easy mods I can do to make a predator 212 faster or have more power? Does mods void warranty I bought a 2yr extended warranty when I bought the engine yesterday

Ummmmm.... Well......YES- Modifications will definitely void the warranty. You can't have your cake and eat it too.... Since you bought a 2 year warranty- don't throw good money after bad and run this one stock.

Next time buy on without the warranty and mod away (after break -in) and making sure it's OK..
