Dad here from OKC getting into the fun for my 2 kids - both under 10. The go kart we ended up with is nothing special, just something for them to play around in, but they've had a blast so far. Even put a smile on my face a few times during the test ride. I restricted the throttle to about 5mph until they get used to it more. Have some questions I'll search for in the forum but will make a post if I can't find anything. View attachment 152371

Welcome to the forum. Great fun for the kids. One piece of advice. A helmet. You might think that since there going so slow its not needed. Fair enough, BUT your daughter driving with long hair hanging right above the chain and sprockets, you are putting her in serious danger. When long hair gets caught up, I am sure that you can imagine the outcome. Please, if no helmet, at least tie it up.

Any and all advice welcome. Time for Momma to teach me the ins & outs of a hair bun. That isn't something that crossed my mind, so in all seriousness, thank you.

Now for another lecture ( sorry ). Looks like you have a nice place to ride. Smooth and wide open. The kids will learn very fast ( ask me how I know ) and the engine probably is a 5 or 6 hp. power sport. Once they start hounding you for more speed as their abilities grow, the kart is probably capable of 25 mph. Now its time for the helmet. Youth helmets are less expensive than adults. A motorcycle supply shop is better than on line because they can try it on. A set of seat belts or shoulder harnesses can be purchased from any of the kart supply shops. Not trying to be the Nany police, but 25 mph is a lot different 5 mph. You'll also feel a lot less nervous knowing they are protected once they start going fast.

And they will roll it. You won’t know how they managed to do it, but they will. Even if you put 20’ outriggers on each side, they’ll still roll it. We want them little buggers safe as much or more than you do. This board needs some young blood. Us old farts ain’t gonna last forever. :ROFLMAO:

I beg to differ. That's a classic Manco kart which looks to have the original engine, paint and seat cushions intact. That's a treasure when most karts of this age that you find used have had multiple owners, multiple "Bubba" rattle can paint jobs (done poorly of course) or are just trashed to bits.

Looks like it might be a Manco 415 https://www.eccarburetors.com/assets/images/Manco-415B-Go-Kart-Parts-Manual.pdf
