Figured Id join as Ive been getting info from here for the past 4-5 months. Have fully immersed myself in this DIY world of karting and I believe I may be here to stay.
It started with getting a junked out Carter Bros Talon frame (for 40 bucks mind you) so I could have the wheels and front suspension for my kid's lawn mower just a few short months ago. I imagined a Frankenstein kinda contraption.
Well, the mower (pulley swapped) finally blew the transaxle, the boy bought himself a B200r, so my other two got a nicely rebuilt go kart for Christmas.
The initial plan (after scrapping the mower idea and deciding to use time and resources on the kart) was to do a vertical to horizontal shaft conversion with the lawn mower engine ( CraftsmanT1000 engine) and use that for the go kart. Well, that engine is being saved for a future project and I just got a Predator 420/stage1/TC for the kart instead.
Glad to be here and I will certainly get some pictures up later.
Of course, thanks for all the info that is freely available here. I probably couldnt have gotten this project done without it!
