hi everyone, I’m pretty new to go karts and engines in general. Back in July 2022 I bought a KenBar Streaker live axle. It’s a single seater, no roll cage cart. It’s in great condition and I got a Clinton 3HP aluminum block engine with it. after reading this forum, I realized that to mount a clutch properly, you need crankshaft threads for a bolt. when I got it it had a #35 clutch on it with no key or bolt, just set screws. Should I sell the Clinton and get a predator? The Clinton is currently a non runner and I haven’t worked on it in quite a while. Thanks.

That engine is vintage. If you don't want it, sell it for big $

Mine looks slightly different, I’ll upload pictures when I get a chance. Also, I don’t think feel that sort of engine would sell well on Craigslist, where would you sell it?

By big bucks they mean like as high as $50.00. They are pretty easy to find but not so easy to get parts for.

exactly why I though about getting something newer. And as Da redflash said, mo power. In this application, should I have a clutch or TAV? Also, are the Chinese/Amazon torque converters any good? I know I need a genuine Comet belt.

Edit: I have 11 inch tires, 60 tooth sprocket, live axle.

The gas tank is currently off the engine. Model number is 404-100-080. It’s aluminum according to the model number and the magnet test.

The jungle TAV II CVT work great as long as you use a Genuine Comet belt!
