Hi everyone, just joined so saying hello. I work at an indoor karting arena in Gloucester (uk) and thaught id join and see what all this DIY karting is all about. I have a full size kart that im working on, its a ready built chassis but i intend to widen and lengthen a little to accomodate a Kawazaki Z750 engine.

My main reason for joining tho is because im going to build a scale RC model kart which will be made from steel tube and hopefully run a 27cc two stroke. So thats a lil about me. Hope to speak with some likeminded people soon.

Hi, Im new hear too. I have built & raced R/C trucks, Cars & Boats for 20 years. I dont have much to show for it though. The best i have done is 6th place out of 27 thunderboats at the last Nationals hear in marysville wa usa. Running a stock zenoah 260pum 26cc in a 50" roundnose hydroplane. & 60mph in an old 1/8 scale pancar. Very similar to a modal kart. But alot of good memiories. & i guess thats all that matters;)
Now im ready to try to build & run some big karts on my R/C backyard dirt oval. This is a really great place for lots of info! Best regards~ Keith

Welcome to the forum you two! Why don't you guys start up a project log and post up some pics of what you are working on. JDRkarting, I like the idea of a RC kart. It has been done before, and there is a link to it somewhere on this site, but I just cannot find it at the moment. Post some pics of your 'Big Kart' too.

karts

Hi guys, thanks for the replies. I have also seen some other karts on the market, but as with all production RC models they are built around a flat chassis usually made of ABS or caron fiber etc. The one i have just started is built out of 12mm steel tube and a copy of the real thing. I will get a piccy up of what i have so far shortly. The chassis is flat Jig built but has the front steering points rased like the real macoy. As for the real one (large one) this is on hold for a while as the engine i have needs a rebuild. It fires but is blowing back through the carbs so im guessing the cam timing is out, so rather than just mess about, ill do a full rebuild to give me peice of mind and a knowledge of the engine being right from the start. I will get some pics of that up as well.
