It is a genuine Comet Torq-A-Verter? I can't tell (better photography would help) but anyways, it shows the limitations of the "manuals" we have available to us as what is listed appears to be a chain driven jackshaft assembly and not a CVT. We need the real manual.

Love the idea of a clutch fan though. That thing is constantly running with the crankshaft and keeping things cool.

One may confuse rudeness with bluntness. The screaming of Comet in all caps is just a running joke. Denny is the pavlovian dog where that is concerned and it’s still hilarious. They really are a better belt though. Or was it something or someone else?

Theres been like 2 helpful comments. Everything else is empty posts front loaded with ****ty comments.

I’ll put my work up against anyone on this forum. I work with tolerances/precision in decimal places you’ve never used.

I get it that dude before me slapped the thing together, but the comments are excessive

We dont know you from Adam.
Most people come here with no knowledge of anything asking for help.

So your an AnP mechanic? Are you IA too? What kind of cool stuff have you seen or just GA?

Ive seen everything from King Air 200’s to SR 71’s/B2’s

i disagree regarding aircraft being go karts with restrictions. General aviation with cubs and pipers maybe, not anything that lands on a ship though

So are you all mad and foul mouthed because a couple of us made negative comments about the bolt holding on the driver? How the heck do we know that it wasn't you, but the previous owner. I would think that a master mechanic of the caliber you say you are would have done something about that within the first 10 minutes of ownership. No need to get as wound up as you did with all of us. We want to help you get it running properly. Seems like you don't want to show us pictures of the back of the kart. Not just a side shot, but from the back side. The axle, sprocket, and the rear of the frame. We don't have ESP. We can't guess at what you have.

Noticing something odd here. The 3005B-09 kart looks to have shipped with a hex axle and a #13680 hex sprocket but his picture is showing a round axle and what looks like a sprocket from a 3006B-01 kart and a #13406 sprocket. The original centrifugal clutch has been replaced with a TAV2 or generic TAV2 setup. I would suggest finding a 5/8" diameter sprocket, 5/8" hub, fabricate a new chain and maybe replace that worn TAV setup with a new one or recondition what you have. The Robin/Subaru engine is a great engine made in Japan. I would change the oil, replace the spark plug and air filter and keep using it. You'll need to address the sprocket on the jackshaft too. This should get you close, just watch for ground clearance.

Thanks. Im actually going to be able to have a good look at it tomorrow. Im considering upgrading to a wildcat engine and new TC. The chain/sprocket was the first thing i noticed when I bought it. I will pull some stuff off and get some measurements to see what im really working with

If the parts from Go Kart Supply work, maybe save some shipping costs and go with their generic TAV setup. Just make sure you use standard fastening bolts as opposed to metric. I picked up a kart with a setup like this but the owner forced in metric bolts to fasten it and damaged the threads. I had to re-tap the threads to install the new TAV. It's mentioned with the image.

Nice to see a genuine Torq-A-Verter being purchased.

And blammo, the TAV covers now are utterly ventilated these days, interesting. Thanks for the photos, worth 1,000 words. Keep it coming, we want to see more.
