Hahah, Im not too sure about that. As much fun as that would be... not sure if the school would like something that loud rollin down the sidewalks and streets.

... Plus... :ninja: this thing wont have a permit or nothin. Not sure if they want an unregistered bike loudly rolling around.

Better play it safe when you don't got a motorcycle license or nothing in a big city. :D

If you look closely to the printing on the right side of the battery, you can see "avoid total discharging (deep discharge)". The website indeed says "deep cycle". I'm confused. Take it if you want or wait for a battery which clearly says "deep cycle", "made for electric vehicles"

Hello!

Well I didn't get much done on my bike today, but I got a few drawings out.

So thanks for the advice, im gonna go for it and see if these batteries are correct. Everything that i have found says Deep Discharge is the same thing as Deep Cycle. So I am going for it.

Though as I read up it says I don't want to fully discharge these batteries. How can I get a meter going as to when these things are low? Or when I am getting near the low battery mark??

Got my tires on the way, the motor, and now the batteries. Things are slowly going. Thanks for all the help!

Hey all,

Nah it's fine. He's my partner in crime for building our electric minibikes.

It was his idea We started these projects. I'll post up some pictures of what he has done if he doesn't mind.

And currently I need to wait till the wheels come before I finish off the frame. Hopefully I'll be done with more and provide more pictures next week for you guys.

Hey everyone, I didn't want to add another post as I know multiple postings gets annoying for people. So I am just editing this old one.

The wheels and batteries came in today! And the motors came in a few days ago! So I am super happy. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance in the machine shop today so, I didn't get any more work on the frame.

From the wheels it looks like I will need to buy a few bearings so the wheels won't be actually ready for another week or so. So hopefully I can get the frame finished this week which would be a huge step into finishing it.

Once the frame is done its onto assembly and purchasing the controller and throttle. (Also figuring out a break would be nice....)

Anywho, theres the update.

Hello everyone,

So most parts have come in and the last few things are being ordered. So this upcoming week I am going to finish my frame.

Now I am looking at getting a chain for my motor. Problem is that the motor sprocket can't use the same chain as my rear wheel that I got.

Also I can't figure out what chain I need for this rear wheel that I bought separately... I figure it would be cheaper to change the sprocket on the motor than changing the gear on the rear wheel. Anyone got any ideas about that?

Also, is there anyway I can find out what chain this requires for the rear wheel?

Ill keep looking into it.... I am just slow with these kind of things.

And here is an update on what I got. I really didn't do much today except cut out a few pieces for the eventual spacers of the rear end of the bike, and found a few solid rods for the axles I need to turn down.

I layed out the wheels and put the motor where I believe I am going to put it. The batteries and controller should fit in the middle of the bike to keep the weight centralized. (I don't know how much torque this thing is gonna give and I don't wanna do a backflip off the bike. (n.n) )

And anyone know how to change the sprocket on a MY1020 Unite Motor by chance? I am trying to look for specs to see the inner diamater of this rod because I need to get a sprocket for a #40 Chain on there.... But I can't find jack.

if you live in the states. www.surpluscenter.com. get the old one off and hit it with a cheap micrometer, if you dont have one, use a measuring tape if you think its standards (inches) if its metric you will need a micrometer or a mm ruler if you can find one.

if it doesn't have a allen key, then it might well be press fit, fun for you! lol. if thats the case

looking here, http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/ramxmo.html, it appears there is a retention nut, so take the nut off and slip it off, if its used you might have to used a puller because they get bound up. retention nuts can mean tapered shafts, yikes

looking at it, might be easier to change the wheel or use a jackshaft really, would make motor swaps easier at least. good luck :)

i understand that you want electric, but frankly,if you took a chainsaw motor or such and did a custom exaust, it would be much better. have you ever toyed around with an elecric scooter? the thing is that many batteries really heavy, not to mention the frame, chainsaws are meant to be comfortable held with one hand, they usa a small amount of gas, and with a custom muffler can be very quiet. you would need to gear it down considerably, but you could then maintain speed going up hill. just my 2c.

what you need is an electric scooter sprocket.... believe it or not they bolt right over that 1/2x1/8 chain sprocket in between the teeth.

Hello! Sorry for the late update.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. What I ended up doing is ordering a British borable gear Sprocket from McMaster Carr, which had the same English properties as the metric gear that's on the back wheel. So the chain and the gears all work together. (of course when I put them on that is...)

So currently my frame is pretty much all done except for some vertical supports for my weight, and and putting the seat bar in.



As you can see, I have finished creating my own axels which fit in the wheels, and i have it all lined up.

The front fork is done, but the handle bar shaft isn't attached to it yet. I am not sure if I want to go foldable or not. (It would be great, but it may be too much complications with the little time that I have)

The frame is done but a bit crooked, which is hard to see, but I made up for it with the rear wheel hooks which hold the rear wheel in. I can adjust accordingly.

So what I need to do is put on the seat, add some vertical support in the frame, and then get brackets and stuff to hold the batteries and the motor on. (I still need to buy a controller and a throttle. I am having a hard time finding one which reads out how much battery power I have left. If anyone can give a link that would be much appreciated.)

Harbor freight sells these volt meters that let you know the voltage of you battery. I think they are like 5 bucks a piece... Get one for each battery and a speedometer and you'll be all set. Lol it'll make it look cooler too

Currently I am looking at buying the last essential thing for my bike which is the controller and throttle. Do these guys look good to you?

I got the motor mounted on the frame, and I hooked up the rear wheel, and got the chain to length. I directly connected the motor to one of my batteries and this thing flys. :wai: I can't wait for this thing to get finished, though it looks like I got quite a bit of school work coming up which is slowing me down big time.

But if any of you could take a look at those controllers and if they work that would be cool. Maybe if people know of cheaper parts? (Still broke. :D)
